send stuff with bluetooth?

I was wondering cause I have a mac and u know how macs have bluetooth or whatever well I just got a new phone and I wanted to send sutff to my fone from my mac using bluetooth but I dont want it to cost i was wondering if it cost everytime I send something. and if it uses data like the internet to do it cause I dont wanna get monthly data charges for using bluetooth I was just wondering if it was totally free
