Selling & Getting my photography known?

If you have access to the internet, try a search engine. You can always ask the magazines if they need any photography. Good Luck with that. If you really want to get your name out there, find some of those contests and win a bunch of them. Raffle off some framed prints at charity events. You have to get your foot in the door somewhere. As far as making money, there is money to be made. There isn't a whole lot of it and there are millions of people trying for it, but its there. Its a tough, tough thing to do. Its not impossible, but very very difficult.
 
Everyone keeps telling me to sell my photography,
submit it to magazines and stuff.
Any ideas to get my name out there, maybe make some money?
Or, does anyone know any upcoming and current photo contests?
