Selling a car- Title transfer?

I want to sell my car but i am not sure what to do with the title transfer. The problem is the car is in my Mother's name right now and she filled out the title to transfer it to me so that i could sell that. She only filled out the portions that she had to and got it notarized and then sent the title to me. I live in a different state than her so i wasnt able to be there to do the transfer. but when she did that she filled in my name onto the title. Once i got the car and the title here i was able to sell it within a few days. So my question is do i have to transfer the title into my name and then transfer it into the buyer's name or can i maybe just scratch out my name on the title and get it notarized, skipping the step of me changing it to my name first? thank you in advance

To make it less complicated and reduce the risk of voiding the title, I would take the title to the DMV and have a new one issued in your name. Then have your signature notarized on the back of the new title, singing it over to the new owner.

Until your name is on the front of the title, you really aren't the owner of the vehicle and can't legally sell the vehicle.
