Sell a handset upgrade on ebay?

just upgrade like regular and reactivate your old phone...simple. ive done it to get a blackberry..yes its possible i sold a voyager for 225 dollars.. and no the phone will not be locked unless the person that buys it tries to activate it to another service..in example say you have verizon and are happy with your phone then you upgrade to a voyager, all you have to is have activate your old phone and the voyager will have a free mied/esn number so then anyone on verizon network can activate it..
 
Hi folks,

I'm due a new phone upgrade from o2, but am quite happy with the handset I've got. Would it be possible to sell the new handset on ebay as a new phone (rather than selling it to say, mazuma or envirophone), or would the phone be "locked"?
