I have two of the three dissertation committee members required "in the bag"... For the third, I am considering using someone outside of my school, as I know and have worked with many a PhD in my field over the last 10 years or so.
Do you have experience using "outside" dissertation committee members? Do you have any strong feelings (good or bad) about your experiences? I am looking at doing a Historical/Case Study project, if that matters.
