Seen as an Elitest?

I have not seen any Harry Potter films, I don't intend to see the new Twilight Saga and I doubt I will ever own the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Now a lot of people would say fair enough but quite a few people I know demand to know why I have not seen these films and claim I am some kind of a snob when it comes to film. I don't feel I am I choose to simply not watch these films, I am sure they are good films I am simply not that interested, has anyone else been treated in this way?

Don't worry about those who claim others are "film snobs" just because you don't share their wishes and wants. Be a "snob" in their eyes if you want; be whatever you are. If you don't want to watch Harry Potter, then don't.

I only watched the first Harry Potter a few days ago and plan to watch the others over time, because I decided to give them a watch for the sake of completeness and reference, not because it's the sort of thing that I gravitate towarRAB. I found the first one OK for what it is, but it's not the kind of thing I'd seek out and watch again and again. Still, I didn't regret watching it and still plan to watch the others.

So, yeah, be yourself.

I've never seen any of the godfather films.

Not that I don't want to, I've just never got around to it.

Snobbery isn't saying you don't want to watch them, it would be going around saying I'M BETTER THAN YOU BECAUSE I DON'T WATCH THEM or something silly like that.

Same here. Not remotely interested, although I am a huge reader and I love films with a passion. Subject matter leaves me cold. I couldn't give a stuff if I am seen as out of kilter. Moody teenagers with cheekbones doing vampire stuff and a kid's book series do not interest me one tiny bit.

Maybe just watch one of the films to shut them up, you never know you might even like them. I've got (female) frienRAB who rave about Twilight, so i thought i'd give it a shot when it appeared on Sky Movies...2 hours later i was ranting to them about how awful i thought it was, how it essentially raped vampire lore while being utterly boring, and how i was never ever going to watch the sequels (well, i may give Breaking Dawn a chance if they film it as it's written in the book, it has the potential to be hilarious!). But at least i've got a reason to dislike the films, at least i gave it a chance.

Just saying "i'm never going to watch FILM SERIES X" and not giving a reason does seem a little snobbish. If you say something like "it's not my thing" then fair enough.

It's all down to opinions though.
