Section 20 charge self defence?

I recently was charged for a section 20 assault, th situation ocurred because the lad was very aggresive toward my girlfreind and called her a racist name begins with n. So I told him to go away and he started kicking off on me and was about to hit me so I hit him first. I'm thinking of pleading guilty to self defence. What you think I will get and whether I in the wrong. There's no CCTV and I have my gf as a witness a bouncer seen the situation but didn't hear what he said or what he was doi g thanks
