Second bike

I was thinking of getting a second bike, and would like your opinions or experience on them if you ever rode either one.

I tested a Honda 600RR yesterday, and tomorrow I am taking a Triumph Daytona 675 Triple for a spin.

Please give me the good, the bad and the ugly on them. Both are going for the same price.

I want to use it at the track, but seeing that the scorching summer is upon us here, the track days will be limited, so it will also be used as a commuter to save the 1098 for what its best suited for...the long and winding roads.

Thanks for the info.

Lot of views but no replies?

C'mon guys, I need some experienced advice. I am not being disloyal to my Duc, but its in the service more than I am able to ride it. I dont want to sell it, but at least have something reliable to ride on while it goes in for stalling repairs every second week.

Sitting at home in peak riding conditions, is jusst frustrating.

If you want a second bike that will be good for regular commuting while serving as an effective track tool as well, then I recommend a KTM Super Duke Base or R version. I say good for regular commuting because the upright position does not put a lot of strain on your forearms and back. The high seating position also allows you to have a good view of traffic ahead. Then, when you take it to the track, the SD delivers as well. Just check the bike mags and see what they have to say about the track abilities of the SD. Many will say that the bike delivers on track just as effectively as it does on the road. I'm biased ofcourse since I have one! Here are my babies:

Sorry mate, I don't have a 600RR nor a 695. Just thought I'd give my two cents.

Cheers,
AJ

Sort of another question. I think the Honda just got an update this year. Is the Triumph scheduled for an update soon? I'm not sure if that would be a factor.

Plus one on the SuperDuke. I also heard their sports bike will be coming out.

The CBR600RR got minor tweaks and bug fixes, but mainly, it had a graphics department rehash, at least here in the states, with a bunch of new and much better looking color options. The Daytona is surfing on its wave of success from last year; like the 1098, it was pretty much sold out within a month of its release and there were very long waiting periods. It too got minor bug fixes and a few color options, along with new stickers and other minor visual tweaks.

Not sure about your stature, but at 6'5 the Daytona was unrideable to me. The clipons are too close together, the rearsets too high up and the seat too low. The CBR600RR felt very natural to me, almost identical to the 1000RR. The only difference between the two hondas other than the engine size and power is that the 600 feels like youre sitting on a mountain bike. it is EXTREMELY light, and the steering dampener is amazing. The daytona is a great looking and sounding bike, but for a daily commuter, nothing beats honda reliability. Also since Triumph is a smaller company, here in the US their parts are more expensive than honda.

Hope that put a little insight into the two bikes.

You want a track weapon and a commuter buy a motard, more fun than you could think of on the road and you will out corner anything on the track.
