SE Compensator Review (A bit lengthy)

If I understand correctly, the SE compensator is now standard on the 2011 touring bikes. I guess the MoCo finally ran out of their stock of the useless compensators.

Scroll back up to post #11. A fellow poster has a link to some photos there. In my honest opinion though, the best and most explanatory photos are in the service manual if you can get your hands on one.

I upgraded mine under warranty exchange ,my stock was so bad finally it cracked but with SE no more hiccups or coughing at start up.

Thanks man, I have a manual, I need to check it out. (Problem is, my manual is 200 miles away! LOL) I'll check it out when I get home next weekend.....

If I do the swap, what NEW PARTS do I actually need beside the SE Compensator????

The "loud bang" sound when I started the bike today and the bucket of nuts rattling around sound until the primary gets hot sound has to be eliminated ASAP....

Great post. Thanks for sharing your experience. Getting mine done with the 30K when I get home from the trip I'm on. Now I know to make sure my dealer has parts in stock before I take it in.

I'm at only at 5400 miles on my 09 and I haven't had the starting bang described by some in this thread. I do have a rattle on hard acceleration that I can't quite figure out. I looked at my dyno tune to make sure the AFR wasn't too lean and I have good fuel. The rattle or clatter sound only happens when I accelerate hard and only does it for about 2 seconds then stops. Could this be the compensator I'm hearing?
