I am trying to make a life sized sculpture of a person , how should I start and what materials would you suggest?
I have a few months to do it so time isn't an issue , I just need to get it done as well as possible
thanks for any help
money isnt that big of a factor , within reaso anything is fine , I just want it to be realistic!

the usual way for this to be done is ,the artist makes a small model and sends it off to a shop, that will re-sized up , that larger model can the final work or be further processed , cast in bronze

the biggest question is...how much money do you have for materials

the least expensive way to create a life sized sculpture would be to use paper mache over and around a chicken wire/wood armature...

using plaster gauze is also a good option... a real person is used as a base to set, form, and sculpt the gauze...

beyond that there are so many material options that it is almost limitless...

after reading your answer to the money...i would suggest plaster gauze and fiberglass...check out the site below...

What is the final use? Indoors, outdoors. Display, long term.
Which feeds choice of materials - bronze, aluminum, foam, marble, granite, fiberglass, paper mache, molded plastic, concrete. It could be made from hammered brass or other metal if you are gutsy.
Anything that is molded normally needs an original which is commonly done with oil based earth clay, plasticine, that stays soft. This is built on a wooden structure that may be built out to save clay. Molds are taken from this, of rubber, latex, or plaster, and the statue is made inside or a wax is made for bronze or aluminum casting.
Foam, granite, and marble are negative materials meaning you start with a solid block and remove material until it is your sculpture.

See if you can get and old shop window dummy then you can use that as a base for your figure and build it up with materials mentioned above
