Ok, so u know how the universe was created by the big bang theory with the atom right? But I have a question. If that's how everything was created, where did the atom come from?????? What created IT????
Oh, and where did this atom exist? In "nothing", in space?
I know it's confusing, but thanks for the answers! :)

Atoms came about from the free protons and electrons. Those in turn condensed out of the free quarks. The real question(s) are:

Where did the quarks come from
and
Is there anything more fundamental than the quark.
and
Why matter vs anti-matter.

The "nothing" of space isn't so "empty". From what I understand, particle/anti-particle pairs pop up out of "nowhere" all the time, but are incredibly short lived phenomena because they very quickly annihilate each other again.

i dunno. i don't think anyone knows that. but scientist probably have some theories in that. check out this http://www.fortunecity.com/emachines/e11/86/big-bang.html
it talks about what happened before the big bang.
