It's a bit of code in the Razr OS that picks a random date to deliberately fail, forcing you to take it to the store for repair (a simple procedure that they will charge you 100x too much for), or upgrade to a newer phone. Each phone has multiple fail dates, one for each type of failure, so they all happen in the same general range of time (when the phone "gets old"), with a slightly extended date for complete, unfixable failure. You're hitting the beginning of the window, but more and more people are going to start reporting problems with their Razrs over the course of the next year.
