Scoliosis freaked out

Hi all,

So for years my doctor had me believing that I had Fibromyalgia. I got hit by and elevator door at work this week and went in for x-rays because i was in severe pain. The doctor I saw was not the doctor who diagnosed me with Fibro. I was advised and shown that I have a severe case of Scoliosis. He said that the symptoms with Adult Scoliosis can mimic those of Fibromyalgia however he was concerned that this was not caught previously on other exams. I am 27 years old and have been told that surgery may not help. Are there any of you who suffer from scoliosis and do you have any advice that would help me with the road ahead. I am not even sure I will be able to get on disability. Any tips would help. :)

I was told at 40 I had scoliosis and now I have been told I have Fibromyalgia.....hmmm

Did they give you any detail on the level to which you have scoliosis (perhaps in a % of curve?). Sometimes it may only be picked up on a full spinal x-ray if it's not of a significant curvature.
 
You probably have functional scoliosis from years of SIJD (sacroiliac joint dysfunction) Search SIJD on google. I have functional very mild scoliosis that I found out about 6 months ago. Which was detected on a full length X-ray at a chjiropractors affice. The X-ray also shows the uneven pelvis, which causes LLD (leg length descrepencies) My right leg is about an inch longer. My left shoulder is higher as well to compensate.

I hope to find an answer to my SIJD and hopefully stop the damage. Theres many causes for SIJD and not alot of specialists but they are out there, you just have to know how to find them.

I'm only 29 too and I feel like I'm 45! Its not right... If you leave this condition then thats what leaRAB to DDD and spondy and ripped discs. The amount of extra forces on your body is stupid because of the darn SIJD.
 
The doctor stated that it is a significant curve but couldn't tell me much more. I thank you for all of your responses. I will check into that SIJD. It sounRAB like a possibility. Have a great day.
