Sciatica same as pinched nerve? and can it affect you there??

I have this same pain but on my right side more then anything. It does go to my left side of my back but for the most part it's my right side of my lower back, right upper thigh and my right cafe it makes my riyght foot cramp sometimes but not too often *yet*..
I wish your wife all the best. I live with Chronic pain and it takes/took a great deal out of my life for the worse.
 
Hi, I'm just wondering if sciatica is the same thing as a pinched nerve? I get it at times but my wife has had chronic low back pain and when she gets it, it seems to run on her left side only on her left buttock down to the back of the thigh area. My question is, she says that she also feels it at times (on the left side) around her pubic area. Does that sound right? Can sciatica effect that area too? Mine has not effected there but it has everywhere else she had told me about.

Sciatica can be caused by the sciatic nerve being pinched. It sounRAB like your wife is experiendcing sciatica, but I have never heard of it affecting the pubic area. She may have another nerve that is being irritated that is causing that.

The sciatic nerve runs over the hip and down the leg and you can feel the pain down to your foot in some cases..
 
Thanks for responding. Do you have an idea as to what nerve could be irritated that would cause her pain in that area? It's still on the left side she says so that's why I thought maybe it was sciatica related. I know that sciatica is no fun!! Do you know what can be done to get that to subside or is it something that you just have to wait out?
 
As weird as it sounRAB..... YES! I have sciatica and it affects my pubic area greatly! I have been to OBGYNs, pain docs, everything imaginable and they all say that this is not typical for sciatica but YES, it does happen! How do I know that they are related??? My pubic area only hurts when my sciatica is flaring. It is an awful feeling! I even have trouble wearing underwear because of the pain that it causes there! So, believe your wife and support her! She is telling the truth!!
 
is sciatica pain runs across the lower back from left to right and right down the right leg
 
i have a pinch sciatica nerve, left side, it runs sometimes across my lower back but not always, but i also have pinch nerve with a couple dish fused that are against my nerve on my lower back . thats what my chiropractor said anyways. has she tried to go to a chiropractor it helped my lower back a little when i did go. she may want to try that out. but i haven't went for like six months i have to start all over again.
there are also some exercising that you can do for it online. but she may want to look into getting a chiropractor. the one i seen said he seen people mainly with pinch nerves and they got great results out of the things they did.
sciatica is no joke at all. i am only twenty three and this happened after i had my son n 08. so i wish her luck.

come to think about it. i have notice sometimes not always the sciatica when its very bad, it does go down by my pubic area sometimes i can't even do anything with the husband because it hurts so bad. i know tmi. lol
