I have two slipped discs, L4&L5 on the right side. I have sciatia in the buttocks and down the right leg. I also have a bad left hip which neeRAB replacement. The spine surgeon thinks I need a fusion and more for the discs. I should mention that I am a 71 yrs.old F. I have had caudal blocks and epidurals for the sciatia with little pain relief. Because of the involvement of both legs I use either a walker or cane. The tingling in my r. leg goes down into my foot and even big toe nail. My ortho send me for PT for the sciatia. I have had 5 sessions with no relief at all. Their plan with PT is to relieve the pain in the leg and foot and just have the pain in the lower back. I don't know what happens to the pain then. This isn't working. In fact the pain is worse in the left hip than it was. I'm sure the exercises shouldn't make the pain worse. I am due to have the hip replacement this summer. I had a hip injection for the L. hip a week before the PT started and it worked pretty well until the PT started. The PT consists of various leg exercises and abdominal exercises.I'm fortunate in that I'm able to sit and sleep without much pain. But I can't stand or walk without the walker. How has PT worked for anyone. I would appreciate your input. I am ready to stop the PT.
