I have had the idea for this sci-fi story for a very long time. Mostly the charecters, the universe in which it takes place in is a differnet story. I have always wanted it to take place in are universe in the not so distant future. Think Japanese Anime "Cowboy Bebop" or even American Sci-fi film "Blade Runner".
What I have written involves man made colonies on mars as well as space stations,as well as a futuristic Earth. While this is a story that I have written little of it is one of my favorites because of the great charecters. I always end up coming back to it however I am not a big reader or watcher of sci-fi. Most of my stories take place here on earth in present day.
So what im asking for help with is who are great sci-fi writers who have really credible worlds in there stories (I have read Scott Card's "Ender's Game"). The other problem I have is the social structure of the future. So any ideas on that would be appreciated,thank you.
