I wanted some suggestions on career paths/college majors. I am a college freshman currently majoring in social work. I want to work at a school and only with kids. I am thinking of doing school social work with a private practice and teen support groups on the side. What exactly is the role of a school social worker? Are they part of the school staff or more as an outside resource like a school psychologist? I also would like to teach but there's no specific topic I would teach in middle school. I could be a guidance counselor, but I want to make sure that's right for me. I love kids and working with them and want to work in a school. What exactly would my job me as a school social worker? I want to work with the children and be around the school environment as a legitamit staff member. Any suggestions?
