Scaphoid Fracture 6yrs on!!

I broke my scaphoid bone over 6yrs ago. At first the X-Rays did not show the fracture and I was sent to physio, this of course did not help. After about 2yrs I went back and had more X-Rays and the break was spotted and by this time a cyst had appeared in the break. I was sent to the specialist and was advised that as the break was at the thin end of the bone it would be difficult to put a screw in and the other option would be to remove the small fragment. He then went on to say that it would be 50/50 whether or not it would make any difference. I live a very active life and quite often knock my wrist which results in 2weeks of pain. What I need is a second opinion - do I have to live with this more often than not pain or can it be fixed with better odds than 50/50? Sorry if this was a bit long winded.
