Say you use a credit union - avoiding that nasty 10 day hold?

They say my deposits are large - over $3,000+
I do them almost once year to buy a cd. Been with this credit union 4 years.
It's online only for me - I have a regular local checking account.
They start the 10 day hold AFTER my check clears my local bank

Now, I have learned that they are more apt to do this to reduce fraud.
They are not banks - they are owned by members.

I wonder if once my check with my local bank fully clears I can call them up and offer them two things:
1. I have a credit card with them. In case of fraud - they can take money out of my card.
I have plenty of limit to cover the check. They can even treat it as a cash advance if they want to.
2. They can use my other cd's as collateral.
One of them is 4 years old, the other is about 3. That will plenty cover the deposit I just made.

Do credit unions bargain like this?
Or will they just flat out laugh at me.
I really don't want another 2 week hold on this check I just sent them.
* can't do online transfers - their daily limits are low
* can't go in person - Alexandria VA - would take me days to get there
I am realizing that if they put 5 day holds on simple things, they could put 10 day holds on larger items.

why arent you using a local c union vs this one ? make it easy on yourself...

the holds may be unique to that building.....check it out....

teh by laws may dictate the holds on the checks, but holds

really shouldnt exceed 3 days now like mine does on exceptionally large cks..

even though cks clear now inside of 24 hrs on line...

call the vp or president of it and let em know you have a bone to pick with them/get it

straightened out, but again I ahve to wonder why you're bothering if this one is so

outta the way for you....leave that one there/start another and move the money as

it matures for you ifyou want...andsounds like you need a more up to date CU ...

they are out there.....

ask questions/find out whats goin on......pick up the phone/get it done
