HI,
PT, ER doc told me that about the nerves inthe finger and that why it hurts so bad because there are so many nerve endings there. A very small part of my finger is nurab but not complelety nurab just a lil, can still feel touch sensation but it is a muted feeling and on the inside of the finger so it shouldn't hurt anything if it stays that way.

I make handmade greeting carRAB & invitations, the invitations are for a big function at university hospitals in cleveland. It makes me feel good that they pick me to do them, they could go anywhere but they pick me because they like my work. My son also gets free brochures, have tohelp the kiRAB out ya know. He coudln't even get the ones I make him anywhere, I make panels and attach them to the outside of the carRABtock, they are very elegant and have impressed everyone they give them to. Good for business for them. I'm sorry that all sounded a bit like bragging, dont' mean it to but I do enjoy it so much. It really makes me feel useful to make things for others and to get paid is a nice benefit! I do have to pace myself, and usually give myself plenty of time so I don't do myself in with pain before I'm done.

Schragie, The patches help me sleep a lil better. I have a new pain that started when my right side started getting painful, when I lay down it feels like someones knuckle is jabbing into the right side of my spine. The surgeon took extra xrays and nothing is lose or broken so it's has to be nerve pain or scar tissue. But the patches seem to mute that pain enough to get to sleep. I put it on at night, only use one at a time. I'm a lil scared to try 2 or 3 at a time. So far 1 does the trick a bit. Thanks for the warning about the pets with these, I saw the warnings, wow must really be potent to them. I'm pretty careful about any trash with my babies.

OH! good news maybe, since I got this printing job I maybe able to get a new chihuahua!!! one to use to start breeding them! I have always wanted to breed them and I know of a litter due 3/15 so I may be able to do this now, nothing like a baby chihuahua to warm your heart. Keep your fingers crossed!

Thanks for the well wishes guys!

God Bless

Carol

Carol:

Are you going to have to change your handle to MamaChihuahua? It has a nice ring to it!

I'm so glad the patch helps you. Sometimes I move them during the night if the pain gets intense on a different part of my foot or leg.

You sound so crafty and it's great that you are recognized and appreciated for doing something you love to do. I'm a crocheter but haven't done much in months because I have been too busy or too achey. Unlike most people, I make most of my stuff in the summer months. Go figure!

Hope it's not too cold and snowy in Cleveland today.

Hi Everyone,
I haven't been on here too much because on sunday I decided to ram a screwdriver into my index finger. had to go to the ER since I have type 2 diabetes and needed it cleaned out good & an anti-biotic. Couldn't type too good for a few days. Feeling better now so thought I woudl give you all the latest news from the spine surgeon. My films look good (thank you GOD!), nothing moved or no broken screws. He even took flex x-rays forward & backward bending and took films of my right foot because it has been burning in the arch. EVERYTHING looks good. Which is is great but harder to get rid of the pain if theres nothing to treat so on that note a bummer kinda. He did give me lidoderm patches, I used one on my new back pain over night and it did help me start the next day a lil less stiff. he gave me a few to try and said he would be happy to write a script for them if needed. I think my PM doc would write it to since it really isn't very harmful.

Just thought I would give you all that update, I'm so glad it's good news. Well gotta get off of here my finger is really hurting now. It was a deep puncture, had to pull the screwdriver out of my finger, it went in on an angle and almost came out the other side! so I have to soak it and keep the wound open on the surface so it heals from the inside out to ward off infection, which can set in pretty fast with my sugar nurabers being pretty high still. So a few prayers for the old finger couldn' thurt I guess.

Thanks for the support guys!

Youch!! I don't know what I would do if I couldn't type on the computer for days!

Glad you got good news on your spine, and hope the patches do help with your pain.

OUCHIE!! That sounRAB so painful Carol. I can't imagine the throbbing!! I pray it heals quickly and maybe you should leave the screw drivers to hubby next time!!

Well I think that is great news from the spine doctor! Does he think some of the nerve pain could be do to the diabeties???

Carol, you always have my prayers! I am thankful that the tests came back "good" but am sorry that they haven't yet found the source of your pain. I am glad that they are not giving up on you and pray that they will soon find out what's causing the severe pain. I also pray that your finger heals well, without infection. I am glad to see you back...You, along with the others, have really helped lift up my spirits, lately! Please continue to keep us all updated! Tam

Hey Carol,
Well, I will keep the screwdriver method of pain management in mind! :D You never know what we may have to resort to to get rid of this awful pain!
I am thinking of getting another little chi. My little "Bella" is SO needy and I'm thinking if she had a buddy she may be happier. How many do you have?
SounRAB like you are very talented! How nice to have a diversion from the pain!
Take care girl and keep us posted!

HI,
Deb, We have 4 dogs all together, 2 chihuahuas (one long hair one short hair), 1 shepard/collie mix and 1 fox terrier/pekingnese mix. We have 4 cats too and can't forget the hamster which the reast of the pets want to eat so bad. Bella is the name of one of the parents of the expecting couple in indiana. I can't wait till they are born in mid march!

Schragie, I wish I could work like I want to, we don't get alot of orders and I do the creating but my family helps put them together and deliver and those things. I love creating them tho. I did an entire wedding invitation set for a friend of my sons in Ca, even did the programs. They liked them alot. Last year we earned a lil under 5,000 for the year so thats not bad. My dream was to make greeting carRAB and have them in the lil shops arouns town, that will never happen because I can't make & market them all by myself and it's too much for the family to help with all that too. Oh well, just another dream that the dreaded back problem has taken.

But thats ok, I have gotten by anyway, just like we all have on here. Our backs may have stolen a part of us but only a part not all of us. WE WILL SURVIVE!!! lol.

Thanks so much guys for the support, oh and so glad to help with another way to forget about the back pain, lol, next time I stab myself with something I will post the % of relief is creates before I go to the ER, rofl.

Have a good, pain free night!

God Bless

Carol

Oh only a few inches of snow here so far, supposed to get more tonight.

Hi Everyone,
Well thank you all for the well wishes with that darn finger, it is healing pretty good. Stopped draining and is trying to scab over already, thats kinda yucky and ugly looking. It does seem like i rammed a few nerves inthere since I have many lil nerve healing pains going on in that lil finger tip. Now youjust wouldn't think that so many pains could go on in a fingertip. WELL they can! and they do take the focus off of the back pains too, soif any of you ever get really sick of the back pain just ram a screwdriver into your finger really hard and low & behold "POOF"!!! no back pain! roflrofl!!!!!

All kidding aside, it feels better for the most part. My back is still pretty bad at night especially. I'm getting ready to start a printing job, actually two, my son, the marine, neeRAB more brochures for his business and then I have a very large order for 520 invitations for a hospital function. I'm so glad because it gets my head busy and distracted from some of the pain. You know how we manage to live around the pain, thats my way, getting my mind so involved in something that it can't think of two things at once, well now, it can't anyway, lol. You all know what I mean.

I wish I could reply to each of you, but not gonna be able to do that tinight. Have to get out of this chair, before my back breaks in half. Thank you all again for the support, you know you are ALL in my prayers always.

God Bless

Carol

Mama, OMG I got chills while reading your screw driver mishap. OWWWWWW I think I would have passed out! Good thing you went to the ER, though, being you have diabetes. You certainly would not need to develop any infection in there. Becareful with that finger and I hope it heals okay!

It is good in a way that all looks well, at least by the xrays, for your spine. But I know what you mean, then you have no explanation of whats causing your symptoms. I have tried Lidoderm patches early when my back first started. It seemed to help at first, but after a while it no longer did (but I didnt know then what was wrong and that it was progressing). They are very safe, though. You can even wear more than one ( I think you can wear up to 3 at a time if im not mistaken). My rheumy has even given me a bunch of lidocaine shots at same time while I was using the patches. I even asked him if I could get an overdose, but he said then it wouldnt be a problem. And I didnt get any problems from it. They are very expensive though. I know everyones prescription plans are different, but on mine they still cost me $75 for a box of 30 patches. Ouch.

Hello, Carol...You sound very busy! Be sure to get plenty of rest in the middle of everything that is going on. I have heard that the fingers have "a bunch" of nerves in each one...Did the doctor mention what to do if it doesn't heal properly or if there is nerve damage (although I don't want to scare you)? I will pray for your healing! I also wanted to send you warm wishes for your new upcoming job...I worked at a local printing company for over 2 years, whenever I graduated high school (which was 11 years ago) and really enjoyed it! Please get plenty of rest and get well soon! Tam

Hey Carol. Glad your appointment went well! Sorry about the fingy though. Oweee! I dont use blunt stuff like that.. I go for the sharp blades instead. My little pinky caught it last summer preparing a BBQ for my family. Darn thing is still nurab in parts! No, I wasn't referring to my brain, though according to my BF, that could be easily debated! hahaha.

Glad to hear the patch is helping you a bit. I like them.. they help take the edge off sometimes. They can be harmful if people over use them and too many. It effects the heart rate. But you can use up to 3 at a time if you need to, just remeraber the 12 on/off rule. The most I have ever used at one time is 2.

I like Schragie's thoughts on a new name for you .. MamaChiahuahua.. or MamaChi.. OR.. Mamahuahua. hahaha! Come on now.. they work! lol.

Something to think on about putting your carRAB into stores, etc.. set a plan of 2-5 year timeframe. Make your carRAB now for distribution in several years time. That way, you could do it yourself and make your dream a reality. Then carRAB you continue to make are for future stock years in advance. you obviously love it as you speak so passionately about them and they sound amazing! Something to ponder on gal.

You sound like you are doing pretty good, and I am glad to see that you will be consulting with a nutritionist about a proper diet regimen to help regulate your insulin. This may help you in more ways than you think. Your sugar levels being topsy turvy may be part of your pain generator. Sugar levels raised cause swelling. So hopefully a balanced diet will hopefully help you here too!

As always my friend.. warm regarRAB. Tam

I bet you find a few spinney frienRAB who would love to help you out and make your dream come true.

As a spinney, I think it is so important to find something to distract you from the pain. I think you are an inspiration to all of us with your animals and card making business. You show that no matter how bad the pain is that you can still live and ENJOY life.

Carol, I am so excited about your possible "new arrival" in March! Since the death of my puppy, we have somehow gained two more dogs! Some huge mixed breed female dog and her small male companion have unfortunately been dumped by someone on our road and have sought comfort at our home. My husband says that there is no possible way that we can take care of the female (which I have already named Hooch), but I think she is already taking a special place in his big heart! If we keep them both, then we will have 3 adult dogs and two puppies, which are our female's puppies. Your greeting carRAB and invitations sound very beautiful...what a unique job (business) to have! Good for you! How is your finger and back feeling tonight? I hope you are feeling well. Wow, a baby chihuahua...how cool! Sincerely, Tam2

Well, what an interesting experiment! You didn't have enough other pains going on, so you wanted to destroy a digit? I know this is the digital age, but come on!!!

I hope it heals well. I know you're on top of it and taking good care of it.

I guess it's good news that all your tests came out so well, but like you said, now how do you treat the pain? I'm glad they aren't giving up on you and aren't treating you like you aren't really in pain. Hopefully the patches will be effective for you and a viable long term help. Let us know...

Next time, just use duct tape. :D

Hi Carol:

Ouch! I'm glad to hear your finger is healing. On the bright side, it is better to feel pain than not to feel pain in your finger because people with diabetes have to be vewwy vewwy careful as you know too well. Sometimes my hub (who has diabetes) has his hanRAB in water that is too hot and doesn't even notice it. At least he cooks and washes the occasional dish, though, so I can't complain!

Are the Lidoderm patches helping you? I would suggest being careful about putting multiple patches on until you know how it affects you. I went up to the maximum (3) and came close to passing out. Now I just wear one at a time and I cut it in half and put 1/2 on each of my feet at night when the stabby pain happens there. They work like a charm on my feet and I hope they work for you too! Also, they're dangerous to the pets, so make sure that even the plastic gets thrown in a covered trashcan after you peel the patch off it.

Heal up, buttercup, and try not to get any paper cuts with the printing job ;)

Carol,
What a bummer! Will you lose any use of your finger?
Well, it is good news that everything looks good with you. I know what you mean though, you ALMOST hope they find something so that there is a reason for the pain that you can SEE! I hope they get the pain under control. Hang in there girl!

Hi Guys,
Pepper, I never looked at myself as an inspiration, thank you for the compliment. My hubby loves when we get an order from the hospital, he says I get this look on my face and he can see the wheels moving thinking up a design. I wish I would have found my passion when I was physically able to do more with it.

Tammy, funny how we forget we have fingers when useing sharp or pointy things, lol. Glad you still have all of yours! I like the mamahuahua, rofl. I'm glad I found the patches too, it does take that edge off just enough. It really helped with the cramping pains from that monthly visitor too, what I nice bonus! I am doing ok compared to a month ago. MY BP is in good shape now and my sugar nurabers are still up but not as high as they were. I do feel so much better, I never realized how bad I really felt until I started to feel better. I thought it was the pain meRAB making me feel so yucky all the time, it was my BP & sugar levels! I'm so glad we found the problems before it caused a heart attack or stroke. It certainly woke me up to the fact that I need to get it together since the big 50 isn't that far away. I do like your idea about how to get the carRAB going into shops, having a large stock may just be the way to get it going. I am going to really think that one thru, THANK YOU for the idea!!!

PT, Funny how God puts the critters in your life when you need them most. SounRAB like they found a home to me, lol. I have had many strays find my house, hubby says we have a big, neon sign that says drop animals here, lol. I'm still so heart broken for you with the loss of your pup as I'm sure you are too. These new critters will help you to ease that pain of such a loss. The finger still hurts really bad but looks good as far as any infection setting in. I am watching it very closely, I really like the end of my finger so I'm gonna make sure I keep it there, lol.

Thanks so much for the support, you guys are the greatest!

God BLess

Carol
