In the newly released Bush memos that have been made public, one of Bush's DOJ attorneys said "First Amendment speech and press rights may also be subordinated to the overriding need to wage war successfully,"
This is a far more overt subversion of the First Amendment then anything Palin imagined the media or Obama had done.
