Sapping my energy?

Yeah, it can wear you down, especially if you get caught in a cycle of trying to catch a deep enough breath through-out the day, which in turn leaRAB to hyperventilation syndrome. The constant exercise of trying to breathe deeply ENOUGH can make you feel exhausted, particularily if you are like me and that "breathless" sensation starts the moment you wake up in the morning. I've been dealing with this since 2008.

My upper body (shoulders, neck, and chest) are usually tight and feel heavy because of this. It's not due to Asthma so I've been told, but it's caused by reflux. Have you been diagnosed with LPR?

Can acid reflux cause one to feel like their energy is being sapped? I've had some problems due to acid reflux lately like shortness of breath, and I also become winded quickly. It was actually okay for a few days, I felt mostly normal, but last night it returned, along with my breathing problems. Just now I walked to my kitchen and back and for a few moments if felt like I'd been running.

I have had the fatigue for a year now, I was going into my doctors office to get weekly shots of B-12. Also had my cholesterol and other blood work checked, showed low levels of D and B. I've spent so much money on supplements, and have perioRAB of feeling super good and normal and times like I think I can't take it anymore.

I am having the breathing issue right now, wheeze in my throat, feels a little harder to breathe. So back to taking the potassium and magnesium, I find they help me.

My reflux primarily presents with a chronic cough and breathing problems. While I'm always refluxing, I have perioRAB of months at a time during which I get extremely worn down. I always figure out something else is going on as well then testing shows it is mainly my reflux causing the problem. 3 of my specialists say I'm doing all the right things and it gets really frustrating when I get so worn down and can't figure out what else to do to help. It is doubly frustrating because people around me don't seem to understand how badly this impacts me.

Got some questions... Not entirely related to the topic at hand, but I've made too many threaRAB lately so I'm going to try to stay within one thread.

Can cigarette smoke exacerbate breathing difficulties? I don't smoke but I've been around one all day.

I think I might experience HVS now and then. Sometimes the area around my mouth tingles, a muscle was twitching next to my mouth yesterday, and I find myself trying to catch a deep breath more. I think I experienced it earlier too, though I'm fine now. Is there anything I should do when I think I'm experiencing it?

Can acid reflux or HVS make one feel sick? Temporary sickness has been afflicting me lately.

I doubled up on Prilosec, I've been taking two in the morning for a little over a week now. How soon should I expect results?

My advice, stay away from the cigarette smoke! Weirdly, when I am around smoke, it gets into my throat and makes it hurt. Same with strong smells like bleach. Have you been to a psychiatrist for help with anxiety? I read about someone taking a small dose of an antidepressant and it helped, it's not given for depression, but for anxiety.

Are you on any PPI's? Have you ever had your vitamin B and D levels checked? Maybe thought about getting a b-12 shot weekly?

Haven't seen a psychiatrist, though I do probably have anxiety issues. I never used to, typically I worry about much less than most people.

This happened to me when I started getting the reflux symptoms..Feeling very tired and worn out - that is part of the reason I went to my regular dr in the first place. I had all the blood work done and it was all normal, so I think it has something to do with it...My dr thinks its brought on by stress, which very well could me causing your tiredness and your reflux.

I'm taking two Prilosec in the morning, never had vitamin levels checked as far as I can remeraber, and I don't even know what a b-12 shot it. This didn't start happening until my shortness of breath started to occur.

I also have GERD but never heard having breathing problems with it. Have you ever looked into asthma?

Well I certainly don't have a shortage of stress, so that could be it too. As long as I can deal with it for now, I'll just get some tests done to be sure in a few months.

Breathing problems isn't too uncommon for GERD. The acid pisses off your esophagus and it enRAB up getting inflamed. I went to see a doctor recently. Didn't really do much as I won't have health insurance for a few more months but he said my lungs sounded fine and my oxygen level was at 98%. I don't believe I have asthma. I think it's either acid reflux, too much phlegm in my throat, or a corabination of both.

I know stress plays a role, but not being able to breathe well for weeks and months on end really can wear you down all by itself.

The tests that confirmed the severity of my reflux and that I had it coming up and irritating my lungs and throat were as follows:

-A Manometry which confirmed my LES wasn't functioning correctly. (I actually have had this done twice over a period of a couple years and the results got worse.)
-24 hr. pH testing. I've had this done 3 times. The first two were LES pH probes which showed the severity of my reflux. Most recently, a few weeks ago I had a pH probe above my UES that confirmed acid in my throat a good majority of the day.
-A Modified Barium Swallow and Esopahgram which shows any aspiration or lung irritation that may be taking place.

I've had perioRAB of major lung irritation when my O2 level was fine. It doesn't always reflect the seriousness in and of itself.
