Sanyo Zio (Kyocera M6000) New Update, New Problem (MyBackup feature)

Ok so I have to say I was amongst the masses that was OVERJOYED that the Zio was going to get Android 2.2. But as with any update there is the inevitable bug..... I made the mistake of trying to sync my conctact from Google's server to my phone. Simple right??? Well Google Contacts doesn't truly sync with your phone it just replaces whatever contacts are existing on you phone with whatever you happen to have in your Google account. To me "sync" means to MERGE the two!

Anyways, I at first didn't sweat the situation too much because Cricket provides the MyBackup feature as part of my Android service plan. Well when I went to sync my phone with the MyBackup feature it got about 70% done and then I get an "error 2" message. I gave it sometime thinking I wasn't the only N00B that did this and just figured their servers were overloaded. I waited about an hour and still got same error. I contacted Cricket (NON) Support, after repeating my info 3 times, I was informed that this was a KNOWN issue. I will be contacted by their Engineers in 72 hours.

So yeah if anybody has any suggestions for me PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

I had the same problem but was able to get just about all my contacts back by:

Logging in to gmail through my computer
Then go to the contacts section and you'll see an other contacts link
Once you are there at the top or bottom choose more actions and then export. Click the" vCard format (for importing into Apple Address Book or another application)" then insert your sd card into your computer and save the file there. Once you place it back in your phone and power on under contacts select menu then import/export and select "import from SD card" after it extracts all your contact which takes some time they all appeared in my contacts.

Hopefully it will work for you as well. I was able to recover all but the last 2 I had stored the day before.

Thank you for the input! Hopefully it will be useful to someone. This option won't work for me because none of my contacts that were existing on my phone were added to my Google Contacts acct. So there is nothing for me to download. And when I synced my phone with Google Contacts it removed all of my saved contacts on my phone and replaced it with the handfull of random contacts that happened to be in there.

For those of your that have a Google Contacts acct with a full contact list, you can do this to get ALL of your contacts to show: From the Contact App>Menu>Display Options>Choose your gmail acct ("name"@gmail.com)>check mark "All Other Contacts". This will show all contacts that appear in your Google Contacts in your Contacts App on your phone.

I sure hope Cricket fixes the MyBackup Feature soon. Also the online MyBackup feature doesn't have an export option at all. YAY!!!
