sanyo xacti vpc-s6 camera question?

i just bought a sanyo xacti vpc-s6 and Im trying to format my memory card i don't have one that specifically fits that hole but i do have a micro sd that i use to use for my phone and it came with an adapter that does fit there but it wont format it just says formatting please do not power off camera and then goes back to the screen that says format the card and it wont let me click exit either.

i was wondering if there were problems other people had with formatting their memory card on this camera or if it was just because i was using the adapter and the micro sd because i don't want to have to buy a hole other card if i don't have to
 
If you have a card reader in your computer put the SD card into the computer and format it, in say FAT32, then try it in your camera, if it does not work then try to format it again in the camera, you may be trying to format a card that has the wrong file system format.

If that does not work the you may have to get another card, but its worth a try .
