Sanyo Incognito and the internet?

Would you say that the internet is like most "regular" phones or more like a smartphone. I want one I can check school email on and access my bank account. I know I can't do that on the rant, rumor, or the lotus. I know the blackberry allows you to, but what about the incognito?
