Sandisk Sansa Media Player problems, Can you help or refer me to someone who can?

It could be one of many things.

I would start making sure it doesn't have a function to only charge when connected under the settings on the actuall mp3 player.

If that doesn't work, I would try to find another USB to USB mini cable, or whatever kind of cable yours uses. I believe that is what they use. I say try this because the cable could be bad. What happens when cables go bad is the wires in the rubber part of the cable sometimes become disconnect when moving it around. This could cause the problem you outlined of charging but no detecting.

It could also be on your computer you dont have something enabled such as your USB ports or your plug and play options.... Start by checking under the Windows Device Manager and see if your MP3 Player is there. If not click Find New Devices. If nothing still check the other two options I listed above in this same paragraph.

You could also try process of elimination to solve your problem. Find a USB thing, anything, mouse, mp3 player, joystick, flash drive, whatever, and see if it detects them. If it detects them then it isn't your computer's fault. It would be the cable connecting the two devices(USB Cable) or it could be the device itself such as in the settings menu above or it could finally be dead altogether.

Good Luck

My SanDisk says that I need to connect it to my PC to refresh the database, but when I connect it to my PC nothing different happens than it charging. And it no longer shows under My computer when it is connected to my PC. It also says that I need to free space on it, but it does not show any songs, pictures, or recordings stored in it.

Thanks to Matt, it now shows under my computer when connected again. But the messages still come up when I turn it on, and the songs do not show on the player itself, but they do under my computer.
