San Fran Chronicle: Is Google Evil?

I read a column in the San Fran Chronicle, "Is Google Evil?"
From what I read, if we use google we are prone to getting our private Information shared with the world, and that google is getting too much information. I'm having problems seeing the point the author of the article was trying to make. Can someone explain?
