Samsung U900 - The names of the people who have texted me doesn't come up anymore?

I have a Samsung U900 Soul. When I used to receive messages, the name or number of the person who had sent me the text used to come up on the screen. Now it just says 1 new message and I can't see who it's from before going into it? Why is this and how can I fix it? :(
