Samsung Television LCD TV PIP?

A couple years ago, I bought a Samsung Television LCD TV on black friday...I was told that since I bought it on black friday they told me it would not have PIP...When I was on my PS3 I accidently hit a button and the PIP screen showed up in the corner. After doing some experimenting, I found that my TV source and AV source it would skip over the PIP button. However, on my PS3 I could select it... My PS3 is connected via HDMI cord, my TV is connected by a TV cord from the wall and my AV is from a audio/video cable (yellow, red, and white cable)

Could how the devise is connected matter in how it works...

ANY OTHER IDEAS???
