Samsung sph-520 no signal after activation?

I recently purchased a Samsung sph-m520 to replace my old broke phone, just to hold up until my contract expires. It was a used phone and had been previously activated. I turned on the phone before activating it, and it did receive signal. However, after going onto the website and successfully swappin the ESN from my broken phone to the new one, I turned on the phone and it has unable to receive signal. I took it to the sprint store and they were not able to fix it either. Any ideas?
I don't get the "enter MDN" screen that the instructions say I should, instead I get the screen that says "NAM CDMA" and it asks for my phone number, and next it prompts it me for the MSID
