Samsung SGH-A746 ringtones

Hi everybody, new to the forum.

I just bought a samsung SGH-A746 on the Rogers network over the weekend, in the hopes of watching small video clips and having custom ring tones on my phone. I bought a microSD card to transfer files from my computer onto the phone, and transferred a few over that I got off Zedge.net. But I can't seem to get my custom ring tones to play AS ring tones. I installed the PC studio POS that came with it, and saw that the ring tones that came with the phone are drm protected.
How do I get my phone to use the custom ringtones? I've been reading parts of the forums and other sites, and I'm quite confused about "unlocking" and what codes are and do. It seems like my phone is pretty new and nobody refers to it specifically. Thanks in advance
 
I don't know if you've found your answer or not, but I just got it to work on mine... I'm so happy! hehe. I, too, have a A746 from Rogers.

After lots of trial and error, I just got it to work (about 5 minutes ago!) This is what I had to do. There might be a simpler way, but as I couldn't find any...

1. Download Sony Ericsson DRM Packager (just google, you'll find it).
2. Add the songs/clips that you want as ringtones.
3. Click on Crwate DRM Content.
4. On your phone, make sure that USB connection is set as Mass Storage (and that your memory card is inserted in the phone).
5. Plug your phone to your computer.
6. Transfer the whole DRM folder to your Ringtones folder on your memory card. (I tried just the song, and it wouldn't work. It needs the whole folder, so that it gets the 'rights' too.)
7. Unplug from computer.
8. Go to your Media. And go select one of the ringtones that you just added on your memory card.
9. Play it.
10. Select Options, Set As, Caller Ring Tune (Won't work, if you select Voice Call Ring Tune).
11. It -should- copy it over.
12. Now if you want to select it as a Voice Call Ring Tune, go to the Setup, Sound... or, back to Media, though this time in the Music folder, on your phone. And Set as.

Hope it works! ... That's exactly what I did, and I was able to get the 4 that I wanted. (Mine were cut to 40 seconds each).
 
Excellent! Thank you! Transferring files with a card reader on my PC, instead of through USB worked too.
 
Not sure where I found the one suggestion that made all the difference, but I thought I should join the forum just to post this ...

When using the DRM Packager, set the DRM Method to "forward-lock"!!!

.. only the .dm files appeared as an unsupported file type. After I changed the DRM Method from "combined delivery" to "forward-lock" and put those files on a memory card - finally I was able to set them as ring tones.

Changing the mp3's to 3gp and 3g4 etc. - none of that worked for me on this phone.
