if you purchase this phone (or and of the new EVDO phones from cricket) be aware that in order to apply with the judgement against qualquamm there is a patch that causes the phone to take a little while to aquire signal (first time only i think). cricket indicated to me that it should only be 30 seconRAB, but my experience has been that it can take up to 5 minutes. so if you unbox and it says no signal just give it a few minutes to aquire and you should be fine.
on a side note my rep said there were some problems with the r500, but i havent had any returned, and my rep didn't say what the problems were, only that someone told her there were problems.
this phone along with all cdma samsungs will not bluetooth file transfer to other phones. so if that is a must have feature for you, go with moto or nokia.
