I agree with what mrmusic said about the date but it is only tied to the release of the phone. I have had three data phones activated on Verizons network in the past six months with pay-as-you go (PAYG) plan only. I have no data charges what so ever. As long as the phone was released before Nov 14th 2008 you can activate it on Verizons network and have a PDA phone wih no data charges. I have activated the Samsung i760, HTC XV6700, XV6800, and XV6900. Don't know about the Omnia - not sure when it was released. This is possible though. Whats more once you go to a no data plan you can change phones (within the ones released prior to the mentioned date) simply by buying it on Ebay and then going to Verizons website and entering the ESN. You don't have to speak with a Verizon rep except for the first time you go from a voice phone to a Windows Mobile device (due to them setting up the type of service). Again, I have three Windows Mobile 6.1 phones and have no data charges what so ever - I pay $110/month for five phones total with a family voice plan.
