Samsung Mythic Contacts?

I'm having trouble with my contacts on my samsung mythic. i just changed phones so i put a lot of my contacts on my SIM. when i put my SIM in and checked my contacts they still didn't show up. so i decided to just add the number but when i added it, it still didn't show up. so i txted the person and i just entered the number but then next to "send to:" it showed the name of the contact! do i have it set to only show numbers saved to the phone and not the SIM or something?? is there any way i could change that?? thanks
