However, don't put a whole lot of importance in "contrast ratio" when reviewing TV specs. Manufacturers always advertise the "dynamic" contrast ratio of their sets, which is very difficult to measure and prove, and not terribly meaningful. If you can find it in the specs, the sets "native" or "static" ratio is a much better measure of the display's contrast quality. See the 2nd ref for an explanation of that (scroll down).
