Samsung Intercept M910 vs Samsung Moment M900

2 VERY similar phones, but even though the Intercept is supposed to be the 'upgrade' of the Moment, it seems the Moment specs a bit better. Long term (or at least until I get an Upgrade option from Sprint) which is the better buy?

I would go with the Intercept because of Android 2.1 and it has a WVGA screen (800x480) packed into the 3.3" screen. The Moment only has 400x320 and the older Android OS although it has an upgrade for it.

You're the first person to state that it actually has a better screen. All rumors point to a screen thats actually WORSE than the Moment, at 200x400 I believe. And both ship with Android 2.1, fyi.

The Samsung moment has a better screen and processor. It is also notable that the Intercept is only capable of Rev. 0 3G data speeds while the Moment can do Rev. A (FASTER speeds). Basically, the Intercept is a cheap bridge for Samsung between the Moment and the Epic.

Any opinions on Sprint not providing Android 2.2 to the Moment? (Remember, some of us are not so tech savy as to know how, or be willing to, root a new phone.)

Android doesn't support the resolution you mention. Android supports only 3 resolutions, 800x400, 480x320 and 320x240.

Its actually a common practice among Japanese keitai and many Samsung, LG featurephones to put 800x400 on a 3.2" screen. That's what the LG Ally did. and from what I hear, so did the Samsung Intercept. They did this because they already have inventory of the screen component for their featurephones.

The Moment ships with Android 1.6, not 2.1. But I believe that there is an OTA upgrade for it.

My mistake, they do both ship with the 800 mhz.

Also, according to Phonearena and PhoneScoop the resolution is 240x400 Pixels.

Although, I originally heard that it was going to be 320x240.

As far as the OS is concerned, phonescoop lists the Moment at 1.5, but the 2.1 update doesn't take long at all. More notably, the Moment will not be getting 2.2 Froyo as it is a late 2009 model. Personally, I wouldn't buy either. The Moment is old and the Intercept is cheap.

Well, I am shipping the Intercept back. Not happy with it, it lags, the shadyness of Sprint's CS team and their website people, and the way they're handling the fact that their site is spec'd wrong. I'll be sticking with AT&T and putting Android on a Tilt2.

I'm sure you'll be much happier with AT&T's spotty network, PRICES, and the IPHONE4, which they are giving free bumper cases with because it's antennae issues.

Also, if you want customer service to be good, then go to a store. AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and basically every company in America has pretty bad support over the phone. It's India, and you'll be calling Bob, even though you know his name isn't Bob. It just isn't. But if you're going to shop online and deal with people over the phone, well, you kind of had a bad experience coming.

I am actually more than happy with AT&T. have been for years. Sprint has NEVER once done right by me, not in all 3 times I've attempted to use them over the past 10 years. Never again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

FWIW, I'm running a G1 unlocked with Cyenogenmod CM6 stable on AT&T and am enjoying it. Need something with more ram, but this does the trick for now.
