Samsung i760 vs LG vx9800

I am a newbie to smart phones and am looking to buy one to use on the page plus system. I am looking at the above and had pretty much settled on the LG VX9800, new, 99-. Then I saw a samsung i760, refurb, 89-. The samsung has wifi which may come in handy if I have to go back to a contract plan and dont want a data plan to get on line. Is that assumption right? Any feedback on preferences would be appreciated. Limited budget so I am not looking for anything pricey or too fancy. Thanks.

The refurb looks like a hands down better deal. Do you have the VX9800 ROM tools? I just noticed that all the links I had for them are dead.
