hey guys, i flashed this to cricket and got it working talk & text only, but the screen is WAYYY out of wack, just has a mind of its own, does anyone know how i can do a hard reset? or where i can download the new firmware without having to go to a verizon store?

thanks a bunch,
jack

They wont have a problem at all according to the Verizon store I went to. Just make sure it is a Verizon store, and not just an authorized dealer. The tech I spoke with says that with this phone, the software upgrade fixes less than half of the phones. You can go to Samsung's website and enter your serial nuraber. It will tell you if the phone is still under warranty. The only problem that I am facing now is that if they replace the phone, I will have to get it reflashed to Metro PCS. Small price to pay considering it will be a brand new phone ya know.

However, VZW has a nasty habit of keeping phones if they aren't yours, or if they find out that it's off of their network,( at least locally). so try humpa.com

I tend to think the law would disagree with giving them the ability to keep the phone. They could deny working on the phone, but I don't see them keeping it. I let him know that it was flashed at a Metro PCS, so it was legally done. He didn't think twice about it, even apologized afterwarRAB that the software update didn't fix the job. Right now samsung has the phone since it's still under manufacturer warranty, so we'll see how it pans out. Worst part is that I have to get it reflashed if they replace it. It'll be worth it though.

VZW had a new Glyde on display and it worked amazing. Everything on it is exactly what I wanted in a phone. I think I might just pay the money to get it reflashed and keep the brand new phone instead of selling it off.

Hey guys I just you used the BI-29 bin on a Samsung glyde using Samsung PST that has the U940 drivers, PST dll and know the touchscreen will not respond. I followed the steps from earlier post by Holding down 9 + Power then selecting SW, then Emergency then downloading the firmware. I could use your suggestions or the BI14 bin to restore too. By the way this phone has already been flashed to Page Plus was prepping for WAP settings.

001 Suspend
037 Clear Lifetime
002 Reboot

this is from the r211 may not be the same for the u940

It's hard for me to understand how the mod's would allow this type of info to be posted and then bit#! about not following forum rules. To me this is highly unethical (and possibly illegal).

Plus...how many non-technical phone users (95% of the world) even look at lifetime counters. They are there for technical folks and can be useful when troubleshooting problems. Resetting them will do nothing more than hurt folks like us who work on these phones.

If you own it and it's not locked to their network via esn blacklist then they do not own the phone anymore! They cannot keep it. Legally anyways.
