samsung eternity and aim?

that's the phone i have. i do not have a data plan. and it has a "im" button and aim pops up. does it cost to get on it ? like internet charges? i have unlimited texting. but some people have said it doesn't cost to get on the internet if you have an aim button and unlimited texting.
