I'm a very recent ExpressVU customer, and just bought a DVD recorder. It records what I am cuttently watching just fine, and I can use the Bell remote to work the Samsung (strangely, many of the 3-digit codes seem to work). However, I can not seem to get the event timer to work. It tells me that I need to set-up my VCR (??), but then as soon as I try the same 3 digit device code that got the remote to work, it disables bothe the TEST and SAVE buttons on the screen. In fact, these buttons "grey out" as soon as I type in the first digit.

Neither Bell nor Samsung has been helpful. Someone from Samsung basically told me that since their DVD recorder could only record up to Channel 125, that it couldn't be used with ExpressVu?!?!?

Any thoughts? Could I have hooked it up wrong? There is a VHS hooked up (the installation tech did that), but as I said, the DVD records what I'm currently watching, AND it will playback as well.

Hi Mike,
I don't really have an answer but I tried some bad codes on my 3100 in 6.1.7 and can't get it to even reject them, so this is really strange.

You didn't say what BEV unit you are using and how it is wired to the DVDR (coax, composite or SVHS, etc.). It should work, even with just coax as long as the DVDR and/or VHS as long as they are on channel 3 or 4. You don't need 125 channels at all.

Did you have the BEV timer recording working with just the VHS before? If not this would be something to try to isolate the problem.

Andy....

I have this DV recorder hooked up to my BEV HD 5100 receiver, both of which are 3 weeks old..AT first the signal was fine via SuperVHS and I was able to record. Now the video signal I am receiving from the BEV receiver is just the guide or the info on what show I am watching/time, etc...the actual video of the show I am watching is not coming through. I also tried through regular RCA cable and the video showing is only the guide or info , not the actual video of the show I am watching.

I can exchange it but I am wondering if anyone has heard of this before..
