Samsung Blackjack... or hold out for iPhone?

Okay, I'm a 20 year old college kid with Cingular looking for a really neat, state-of-the-art cell phone that has a lot of cool gadgets and features. In general, something worth buying.

Should I save up for a Samsung Blackjack... or hold out for an Apple iPhone. I've already got an iPod, so I'm leaning towards the Blackjack.

Any other phone suggestions would be great too.

Also, what does "unlocked" mean to a phone being sold on eBay?

Thanks guys,
UTUT

unlocked means what unlocked means lol. That it can be used on any network. My advice is go for it. The 3G is amazing on the blackjack. And the main thing is, the blackjack is a solid phone, the iphone hasent even come out yet, so know one knows if its gonna be a flop or not. Make the safe choice and go with the phone that is out right now.

Not exactly ANY network. An unlocked GSM phone can be used on any network that uses GSM - that is Cingular and T-Mobile here in the USA. Verizon and Sprint will only allow their own branded phones on their networks so unlocking a CDMA is of no use.

Personally, I would not buy a cell phone from ebay. Just my personal opinion. Many people have done so and have had no issues. Others have not been so lucky. You need to know what you are buying.

I agree with ipodlover concerning the Blackjack. It is out now and isn't that expensive. I would suggest you checkout some of the threads onthe BJ though to see some of the problems (in particular, battery life in 3G mode) so you can make an informed decision. Also, I hear the data plan is 39.99 as Cingular is cracking down and will not let you go with one of the cheaper ones.

Get the blackjack, it will have all the same functions as the Iphone though a different interface. It is a sleek and sexy gadget too. plus for a student, there are some nice programs you can get for it to help manage your time, and assignments that the Iphone wont be able to offer, plus it is out now, and is a half to third the pricel Buy the blackjack, and take the leftover money you saved from not getting an Iphone and throw a kegger (only if you live in a place where 20 year olds can drink ofcourse ).
