No music collection, period.

It's a wonder why it took so long to be released, especially since he died a year after the performance.

Here we have one of the greatest voices in music playing to a small live audience. The fact that he is singing live doesn

What I like about this performance is that it's Gospel all the way.
You'd be forgiven for thinking it was recorded in church.
Really gets the audience going.

btw...only 7 out of 10?...

Another solid review but I don't understand why you don't post more elsewhere on MB. You seem to know a thing or two about what you like.

Great review! I love Sam Cooke but have never heard this particular album. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

Nice review on one of the best live soul albums ever. On a par with James Brown's, Live at the Apollo.
Singing live was what he was really all about and he was able to sing the songs he wrote, live, without his style being buried under unsympathetic studio production.
This is the real Sam Cooke.

He has one of my favourite voices in music. He often gets overlooked by Marvin *** and Al Green, but I think vocally he is about on par with them.

It's such a shame he died when he did, before he could have a larger catalogue under his arm.
