saints row question about safe cracking

i know this thread would be better in teh gaming forum, but there's never anybody in there

so, i'm having problems with safe cracking. i can do the thumbstick stuff to get to where it tells you to hit a button (usually B or Y), but when i hit the button nothing happens . it will flash to show that it's registering that i'm pressing the button, but nothing happens. i tried holding the button down and nothing happens either. i managed to open a safe once so far, but that was only after many failed attempts, and i'm not even sure how i did it.

anyone know how to do this?

also, how do you hold up a business during the day?

ok figured out how to rob, i just hadn't been pointing the gun at them long enough

still can't crack a fuckin safe though

make sure you let go of the thumbstick before pressing the button (last step in the sequence)

ok. every time i've tried that it jumped me back to the beginning of the thumbstick sequence, but i'll try again, thanks

after inpiting the last thimb stick move, release the thumbsticks then hit the B/or y.
