Safe way to pull money out of a bank.. that's not cash and will not expire?

I want to pull money out of one of my bank accounts.. not a lot, under 7k.

I just want to put it in a safe and stow it away. I don't want to keep cash. Are there any safe ways to keep money at home without having it be cash?

I believe cashiers checks, etc have an expiration date.

What options do I have?
 
Maybe bonds, some I or EE bonds... and they'll gain interest too, not much though since rates are so low now. Or you can deposit it into a credit union... why do you want to do it anyway.
