Saddlebag support kit fitment?

So I'm looking at the saddlebag support kit (part # 90881-09A) for my Road King, but the dealer pointed out that it says it doesn't fit the RK Classic. I asked why, & he only shrugged.
Does anyone know why this wouldn't fit a Classic? Are the leather-covered bags dimensionally different from std.? Looking at the models side by side in the showroom, the support bars appear to be identical. WILL it fit?
 
The previous Road King Customs with soft bags have those same support kits. I searched earlier and other people have successfully installed them. I can only guess that maybe it's a safety issue with the soft bags and no crash bars.
 
Thanks - they looked to me like they ought to fit, and I wondered if there were some liability issue behind the recommendation. I'll order a set & try 'em
