Sacroiliac Nerve Burning-New Probe?

Hi all! I get the RFA (radio frequency) nerve burning in my lurabar areas, and have had a lot of pain control from that. In my sacroiliac area, I just get injections. Last week, when my doc was doing these injections, he mentioned a new technology where they burn the SI joint nerves with a larger probe at a lower temp., using water to run the probe. He said it is much more successful in nerve burning SI joint nerves, as they are more intertwined that the lurabar facet nerves. Has anyone had this type of procedure? I am interested in finding more about it, as I would like to get less injections, if possible. I have had so many injections over the years, I don't count anymore:) Thanks for your help! BTW, I suffer from bad arthritis in my SI and lurabar joints. Kera4
 
I also have SI joint pain. I have had just a normal injection in the SI joint and it not help. Did the nerve burning injection work? I have had this for 5 years. I just got over a major flare up. I am in so much pain I can't stand it.
 
Can you or anyone else tell me if there are any issues with the burning. I have been living with this for many years but just recently have been recieving injections. My doctor told me today that I am limited to the steroid injections because it softens the bones and he is worried that with my age that this could be a problem. The steroiRAB have also added 50 pounRAB on me which I cannot afford. Please can you tell me if the burning can be dabilitating?

I believe you are referring to a device called Simplicity III that is made by a company called NeuroTherm based in Wilmington, MA. It is at least similar to what you describe in your opening post. It is a cooled RF that uses the probe to get the needle to the nerve. Hope this helps.

They are doing clinical trials with it now. As with most ablation treatments, the results are not necessarily very long-lasting.
