Hello,
I have had a problem for the last several years that has gotten worse as time goes by. I thought it was restless leg syndrome, but the symptoms don't quite match. Here's a detailed discription:
When very tired/fatigued and laying down in bed I get a very irritating tickle, directly in my lower back in the sacral area. It does not run down my legs. In fact, I do not feel it in my legs. It's in either the left side of the area or the right, or sometimes, nightmarishly in both. The sensation is concentrated in a very small area, about the size of my fist. It starts small, but gets intense very rapidly. The only thing that stops it is moving my legs, intentionally, or jerking them suddenly, and it doesn't last long. Sometimes, if I get in a ridiculous position, I may find relief. It's only when tired, ready to sleep. I have tried prescription sleep aides, only to discover that my girlfriend says I keep her up all night twitching and kicking in my sleep. The sensation is a deep tickle, not a tingle. It's like a feather is tickling inside my lower back. I have no other back problems at all. I had a CT scan from an accident, but it showed no injury, old or new. If I get up and move around, like walk for a half hour, it lasts about a half hour. This is driving me nuts. It isn't every night, but close to it.
If anyone has ever heard of this malady, please, let me know. I tried searches but haven't found anything.
