S710a Off Ebay

Hey, I'm just about to buy an S710a off Ebay, my paypal account is getting verified as I type this. I was wondering if it is pretty safe to buy something htis expensive off ebay, I don't usually buy anything over $100. The guy I'm buying it from has an ebay store and is a power seller so I'm thinking that it sounds pretty legit. I use to have an LG L1400 but I got some water into it and it broke and my contract isn't over for another year and a half. I decided to go all out and get the S710a. The SIM card still works though, because i tried it in my brother's Z500a. I was wondering if my SIM card is compatible with the S710a or do I have to buy another one? I have cingular by the way, and the phone I'm getting is unlocked, does that make any difference?

I have bought aprox 200 things from ebay over the years and only had 3 problems ever
and of those got money refunded for 2 of them and last one is pending the money comming out from guys account
ebay is very safe for the most part and they are well regulated with paypal having money back easily aquired when theres a problem
only down side is the omnth time it takes for a complaint to be processed and investigated
 
correction, the month it takes for a complaint/dispute to be processed and investigated
