S1 pain

:(I had a fusion of L4 and L5 seven months ago because L4 had slipped forward due to degeneration. I am experiencing pain in L5/S1 region which I believe is more than just down to exertion.
L5 is sacralised.

To be on the safe side my doctor suggested waiting to see my surgeon in October for the 8 month follow-up consulation before returning to work. However, I can do most things. Do posters feel that this is good advice - I feel a bit of a fraud after 7 months? At the moment I am not earning.

I did wonder if maybe L5 and S1 should be fused as well.

>>>>>>> Chip, a little more info would be helpful. Why do you think that your pain is coming from the L5-S1 region? What kind of pain is this? If it runs down your leg, then I would suggest you see your surgeon before October if possible.

Are there certain things or movements that cause this pain to flare or it is constant? It really isn't up to me to suggest whether or not you can go back to work. I know things are done differently in the UK than they are here, but I think another MRI would be helpful before going back to work as you may have something else going on and working (especially physical) could exacerbate it.

Hoping to get a reply soon.

Thank you CVarol for replying.

I know where the instrumentation enRAB and therefore think that it is the joint below. The pain is there 80% of the time but is worse at night when I lie down, if I stand for any length of time and of course if I lift anything. There is often no rhyme nor reason to it. I get a burning pain down the outside of my thighs.
I do have arthritis in my left hip and that is also a problem.
The last thing I want to do is go back to work only to struggle to cope.
The sciatic pain I had is no longer a problem.
