tearing my family apart.? For over 11 years my parent has gone through anorexia, cancer (3 different types), removal of the thyroid, obesity, destroyed muscles of the shoulder, a busted knee and coming soon a major surgery.
I’ve always done my best to be supportive and not retaliate against the mental/emotional abuse. But lately I can’t take it anymore, I love my parent yet I find myself wanting to have nothing to do with them.
They have cancelled their surgery (the major one coming up) 2 times already and have threatened to cancel a third time. The responsibility of caring for them is draining and they don’t appreciate it. If this surgery is not performed matters will only get worse.
Today I was told that I will be disowned and left to care for myself. They refuse to follow doctors recommendations and what modern medicine has proven through studies to improve their state.
When someone won’t help themselves and don’t want help from you even if it’s your parent who gave you life is it wrong to walk away?
